Urban Sprouts’ project-based learning approach delivers environmental and nutrition education; advances student and family wellness by promoting the increased consumption of fresh produce through food and garden-based activities; bolsters academic success; provides youth and adults with job-skill training and employment opportunities. Urban Sprouts programming offered in three languages (Spanish, English, and Cantonese), reaches over 1500 people a year and serves historically under-resourced neighborhoods and public housing communities in southeast San Francisco: the Mission, Excelsior, Bayview-Hunters Point and Visitation Valley.

Group Volunteering: We welcome groups of all sizes and create specific projects based on the volunteers’ area of interest. Max # of volunteers: 30. Time: Days and time are flexible. Mornings to mid-afternoon are preferred.
Community Sprouts: We hold open Community Days on the 2nd Saturday of each month from 10-2pm. Open to all.
Advisory Board: Members Seeking individuals who are passionate about restoring and honoring cultural connections to land, food, and people. Advisory Board members have an ethical responsibility to ensure that Urban Sprouts does the best work possible in pursuit of its mission and values. Volunteer position; 5-hour commitment per month.
