Shelter Upkeep Projects: Shelter Upkeep projects are available on weekdays for groups of between 5 and 20 volunteers, generally offered from 1pm-4pm. Projects frequently include sweeping and mopping common areas of the shelter such as our dining room, hallways, or children’s program room, washing windows, painting projects, setting up for events, or organization of donated children’s clothing and toys. Raphael House is a 31 room family homeless shelter with a very small maintenance staff and we rely heavily on volunteer support to help keep the House clean and comfortable for the 20+ families who live here.
Community Chefs: Volunteer groups of 3-6 people can help in our kitchen, preparing dinner for families and helping to serve the family style meal. No cooking experience is required. Our trained chefs will work alongside volunteers and provide all of the food and tools required. This is available from 3:30pm – 7pm on Monday and Thursday evenings.
